The young guy from “American Idol” program.
How does a caucasian person do this ? Do you have to have very curly hair to get them started ?
I don’t want to do it but just am curious how do they do that ?
Caucasians might like to wax their hair, sew the wispy bits in, or wrap thread or wool round their dreadlocks, sealing the short hair in.
As they continue to grow two or more dreadlocks can fuse at the top as the hair grows and mats together.
These need to be pulled apart for the dreadlocks to continue growing separately, although one can always re-wax the loose pieces back into the main dreads.

The easiest way to do it is by using dread wax, you can do it by using the not washing/brushing way, but thats gross and only really works if you have very thick hair. Starting them can be quite time consuming, and involves a fair bit of backcombing, rolling and elastic bands…
They’re not at all gross, you can wash them just the same, but use a residue free shampoo.
