I just wanted to know if it really worked. My mom is coming to town when I am due and I really am not progressing at all and I don’t want my mom to miss her granddaughter b/c she lives so far away it will be a year before she gets the chance again. Has anyone used it? Did it work or not? Can someone tell me something good to bring on labor?

I never did, and I wouldn’t try. They say sex and stimlation helps bring it on and walking a lot. I was 2 weeks late.
My understand is it can be very dangerous to use. And while some women have had success with it the side effects are nasty. Prepare for lots and lots of diarea. I believe that it is actually the diarea that causes labor to come on. You run the risk of severe dehydration.
Oh WOW, no, I NEVER USED CASTRO OIL hahaha!
And if you did mean Castor oil, I’d really ask my doc, don’t ask us here.
is your mom seeing the baby really worth endangering your childs health? how castor oil works is it relaxes your bowels, giving your the runs. sometimes the runs can trigger you to have contractions. maybe the contractions will go somewhere, maybe they wont. but the oil can also transfer over into our baby and have the same effect on them. if they poop in utero, when they;re born is can cause severe lung problems. DONT DO IT. as for trying to bring on labor, they believe labor is started when the baby releases a chemical onces its lungs are completely developped. would you want to try and force your baby out of there when they might not be able to breathe correctly? i know becausew i asked all these questions when iw as in late pregnancy. its frustrating. BUT the baby WILL come. dont rush them, please. they may need those extra few days in the warm safe home you’ve created for them in order to finish developping. its not your choice when they come, its theirs.
don’t try castor oil. … unless you want horrible diarrhea! I’d suggest nipple stimulation. it can cause very strong contractions, but it does work sometimes. there’s instructions on this site here
I used it and instead of going into labor, I just ended up with the worst case of diarrhea ever. I was actually glad I didn’t go into labor because I didn’t want to have an “accident” all over my doctor.
I guess it works for some people, so try it if you want.
There is also an acupressure point just above your ankle bone you can try…here’s a link…
Scroll to the bottom of the page.
You could also try black and blue cohosh to soften your cervix.
i have! its disgusting and can be very pain full as it causes diarrhea badly!!! it did work but i wouldn’t recommend it!!
other ways Ive heard of are raspberry tea fresh pineapple spicy food best of all lots of sex!!!!
i wouldnt do that… youll poop all over the place when your in labor
Castor oil is not worth the risk. I work as a L&D nurse, and have seen far too many mothers who foolishly use castor oil without doctor supervision (or approval for that matter), end up with severe diarrhea, vomiting, leading to dehydration, and in quite a few cases the baby has become stressed as a result and passed meconium into the amniotic fluid - making for a high-risk delivery.
To those women who claim to have used it and successfully went into labor - you cannot say for sure that labor wouldn’t have begun on it’s own without taking the castor oil.
In my opinion, sex and walking and squatting are the only safe things that a person can do to “try” to move things along - nothing is 100% guaranteed. And by taking any medications to induce (such as castor oil) without doctor supervision is simply irresponsible and not worth the risks.
Talk to your doctor about your desire to have your child while you mother is in town. Perhaps they will choose to induce you, safely, under the supervision of your doctor. Also ask them about their thoughts on castor oil inductions - don’t just listen to people on the internet!
Good luck, and congrats in advance.
My doula told me the best way to induce labor is using acupressure. It involves pressing on certain parts of the body with your fingertips. Really easy and safe and it worked for me. Also it helps alot to reduce the pain of labor.
