    Mikhail Gorbachev was president of the Soviet Union. a good man- which is more than can be said of most world leaders, and especially in that part of the world.

  4. lech walesa is your answer. havel was an opposition leader in czechoslovakia who later became the nations president. wojtyla became pope john paul 11 and gorbachev was the general secretary of the soviet union in the 80’s and the early 90’s.
