Looseness, cracks and off set bolts are the most common signs of bushings in need of replacement.

Equally important as keeping a vehicle’s suspension at its best is giving the best maintenance for the the vehicle’s manual transmission. And the best GM part to do just that is the GM clutch kit. The GM clutch is a subcomponent of the manual transmission system. Its function is to engage and disengage the engine to the gearbox and transfer torque to the vehicle’s transmission in split-seconds.

A GM clutch kit is composed of a clutch disc or a clutch friction disc and clutch pressure plate. Some clutch kits however already have pilot bushings or pilot bearings included. The pressure plate is consist of a clutch plate, springs, cover and release fingers. There are two types of pressure plates namely the diaphragm-type and the spring-type. The clutch disc is a metal disc that directs the flow of power between the engine and the transmission along with the pressure plate and the flywheel. Regular clutch discs are lined with asbestos which is the same material that is used in brake shoes and pads to achieve friction. A fully functioning strut is necessary for any vehicle. One’s driving is incomplete and unpleasant if the vehicle has a problematic strut. Although some neglect the maintenance of this integral vehicle element, the Swedish car maker Volvo pays ample attention to the quality struts installed in its vehicles. Together with the Volvo strut mount bushings, these suspension elements keep car handling manageable.

Struts are designed to keep tires on the road. They are also tasked to control the action as the spring resist bumps when hitting humps and driving through potholes. Mostly used on vehicles equipped with Mac Pherson type struts, they are typically found on smaller compact cars.

At this point comes the functionality of the Volvo strut mount bushings, which reduce friction and wear by constricting and restraining the motion of the strut mounts. They also serve as the link of different moving arms and pivot points to the chassis and other suspension parts. To diminish vibration, wear, and noise transfer, they are built of flexible material like rubber or polyurethane.
