For history, you will create a mock conversation between the current President of China, Hu Jintao, and an American leader of your choice (Pres. Bush or Sens. Clinton, McCain or Obama). The conversation should include (1) American complaints about China’s human rights violations, suggestions as to how to “persuade” China to improve its record, and an analysis of the likelihood of success of these suggestions, (2) China’s defense of its actions, reaction to US suggestions for “improvement”, incorporating the Chinese view of the role/significance of the individual in a collective society, and (3) some discussion of the appropriateness of China as host of the 2008 Olympic Games. Your goal is to inform the audience, and to challenge them to think critically about the issues as you present them.
I am going to be Hu Jintao. Mostly for number 2 I really need help. Thanks in advance.
