I live in PA and the cold is really starting to roar in. We just planted a beautiful rose bush in our yard this past summer and i am unsure how to winterize it so it doesn’t die.

my neighbor has a rose bush, a hybrid tea i think. she said i could cut a piece off to grow for myself, but I dont know how. i do know i am suppose to cut it a certain way, but how? and do i just stick it in the ground or try to get it to grow roots first? any tips or advice is much appreciated, thanx.

The rose bush that the rose hip is on is a red rose bush and was transplaneted to my yard at the begining of the month. The rose hip is almost ripe.

The flowers start off cream colored, but as they age, they get almost deep ruby red to pink streaks and pink coloring in the petals. New growth is a deep ruby red, and it is definitely nearly 99% thornless. My bush is over five feet tall, and almost as wide. If anyone wants more details, and thinks they have an answer, I can also email them a picture of both the shrub and the flowers at their different stages.

i have a basic flower bed in front of the house with an out of control rose bush and two holly bushes on either side. the rose bush grows like a weed and i know nothing about roses. it blooms orange roses which are beautiful, but the bush itself is an eyesore. any tips? there’s room to plant other things i just don’t know what will work or even look good. also, do i need to put down mulch? the garden faces east and we have bad humidity during the summer months.
