Earnest T. PhD/THC asked:

I just had a beautiful conversation with a new client, who is a Polish Immigrant and now a citizen . I noticed his accent and his name and asked about being a Polish Immigrant . Anyways, he says he came here 10 years ago seeking better opportunity . . . . And Found It !!
I went on to ask what he thought about Lech Walesa from the Solidarity Movement . And he said they thank God for Lech Walesa, Pope John Paul, and Ronald Reagan !! He said it was because of those men, who came down on the Soviet Union all ‘all at once’ , they they have their Freedom Today .

So I guess this question has 2 parts . What do you think about Legal Immigration ?
and
Now do you understand what Conservatives try to explain about the great accomplishments of Ronald Reagan ?
And the Pope for that matter ?

Was Reagan the greatest president ever?

What You Talkin’ About? asked:

After all, he

- increased taxes on working people twice (one was the largest tax increase in history)

- increased the size of the federal government (one of the few in modern history to actually increase the number of per capita federal employees)

- tripled the national debt

- started an endless War on Drugs (only a Republican would think of declaring war on ourselves) that is a bigger failure and longer failure that the Iraq War.

All the above is true. If you deny it you are a liar.

And finally, he did not end the cold war or stop the Soviet Union. Praising Reagan while ignoring those like Gorbechiev, Lech Walesa, and Vaclav Havel (people who actually DID something) is flat out delusional. But I guess that is right up the alley of conservatives.
Once again…it is all true. Why don’t you research it yourself…and I am not talking about wacko right wing webistes or talk radio.
Your right Fed Up….but I can’t devote my life to listing all the things Reagan did that conservatives love to ignore….yes there was the secret deals with terrorists, an illegal war in South America, cutting and running from Lebannon after a terrorist attack on the Marines….. I mean, who has time to list everything???

lankhai2006 asked:

Do you think among those former dissidents, Vaclav Havel is the best leader in post-communist Eastern Europe? Boris Yeltsin brought down communism in Soviet Union, but later he became drunk and fat, and his children are said to be corrupt businesspeople. Gorbachev and Walesa are disliked in their own countries.

What do you think?

Chastity Fufkin, Polymer Records asked:

The Korean “Conflict” ended in a draw at best, since Korea is still split in half. Some people would regard that as a loss because half is communist. Vietnam was a clear loss–we got our butts kicked.
Don’t tell me the Cold War. that was a stalemate for the most part. The Soviet Union and Eastern Europe imploded upon itself and more due to internal forces and people like Lech Walesa and the influence of the Pope. Last time I looked, Red China, North Korea and Vietnam were all still communist.

First Gulf War? Yeah, we moved that third world country back out of Kuwait but Saddam was still ruler for 10+ years after, and we may have suffered the 911 attacks partly because of our involvement in the Mideast and the hatred we engendered. And now? We are locked in a hopeless stalemate with fanatics that will never give up, and are really just creating more terrorism for ourselves. So by my count, World War II was the last real war we won. That’s not a good record.
